The following is a an informational overview of the contract work. The RFQ is not available for submission at this time. _______________________________________________ The Kansas and Marin Streets Sewer Improvements ProjectThe San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) operates a combined sewer system that collects and treats San Francisco’s wastewater (sewage and stormwater). Our Sewer System Improvement Program is upgrading and modernizing our system to ensure we can continue to protect public health and the environment now and into the future. As part of these citywide investments, the purpose of the Kansas and Marin Streets Sewer Improvements Project is to increase the hydraulic capacity of the sewer system, which may lead to a reduction of flooding risk during heavy rains. The Project proposes to construct approximately 900 feet of underground sewer tunnel and connecting underground sewer structures. What to Expect: Sewer service in the area will NOT be interrupted
during construction. Businesses and residents in the work zone will maintain access to their driveways and entrances during construction. Neighbors may hear construction noise periodically. Noisy work will be conducted in compliance with the San Francisco Noise Ordinance. Street parking will be impacted near construction zones. “No-parking” signs will be posted 72 hours in advance. Construction work hours will be provided when it is available and with future updates. Project Benefits: Increase hydraulic capacity of the sewer system, which may lead to a reduction of flooding risk during heavy rains. The new construction is designed to meet current seismic standards and sea level rise requirements. By improving the sewer system, SFPUC can continue to protect water quality and aquatic life in the Bay. Construction Schedule: Spring/Summer 2020 – Summer 2022 (subject to change) About the Sewer System Improvement Program The Kansas and Marin Streets Sewer Improvements Project is part of the Sewer System Improvement Program (SSIP), a 20-year, multi-billion-dollar citywide investment required to upgrade our aging sewer system. The program is the result of an extensive community planning process and will ensure a reliable, sustainable and seismically safe sewer system now and for generations to come.
