LEGAL NOTICE RFQ – Designer – Emery Grover Building Study Town of Needham - Permanent Public Building Committee Contract ID# 19PFC 155D January 30, 2019 The Town of Needham invites qualifications from Architectural / Engineering Designers to prepare a Feasibility Report, including cost estimates, for the Emery Grover Building that serves as the Needham Public School Administration Building. The Study should review the program requirements for the Needham Public School Department Administration and study options open to the town for future accommodation of the School Department including: 1) Review the program of space needs from prior study and update of the space program; 2) Assess the existing conditions of the historic building and site; 3) Assess repair, renovation, addition and/ or demolition and new construction options; 4) Explore lease and / or purchase options of alternate existing facilities in town and/ or owned by the town, and provide estimated sale value of the

existing building; 5) Analyze the use of the existing Hillside School for temporary office use during the building renovation. The categories of work include: Architect, Preservation Arch., Real Estate Consultant/ Appraiser, Cost Estimator, HazMat Consult, Historical Façade Construction Consult., Civil, Geotech, MEPFP and Structural Engineers. Copies of the Request for Qualifications will be available beginning Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Office of the PPBC, 500 Dedham Avenue, Needham, MA 02492 or by emailing a request to the Administration Specialist – Kathryn Copley at kcopley@NeedhamMa.gov or from the Town’s web site www.needhamma.gov and will be available until submission deadline. An Optional Site visit is being held on Feb. 7, 2019 at 2PM at 1330 Highland Ave, Needham. Qualifications (1 original, 6 copies and 1 electronic copy on a CD) must be returned to the Building Design & Construction Department c/o Kathryn Copley, 500 Dedham Avenue, Needham, Massachusetts 02492 by 2:00PM Thursday, March 7, 2019. Selected interviews of a short list of candidates, if required, will be conducted by the Town of Needham Permanent Public Building Committee (PPBC) and are tentatively scheduled to take place on March 25, 2019. The Designer's fee for the identified services including all reimbursable expenses will be limited to $120,000. The Town of Needham reserves the right to reject any or all qualifications and to accept any proposal that it considers to be in the best interests of the Town.
