Project Description
One-Two Sentences
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is seeking letters of interest from qualified professionals for the Moore Building Renovation project. The scope of this project is a comprehensive renovation of the
existing building, including modernization and reconfiguration of existing academic space for general instructional use as well as academic support and research space. The renovations will include: asbestos abatement, the replacement of plumbing, mechanical, electrical, fire protection and alarm systems, along with elevator, windows, storefront, and roofing replacement. Existing systems will be upgraded to meet current code requirements and provide energy efficient, sustainable solutions. Reconfiguration of existing interior block walls is intended to be limited in scope. The Moore Building opened in 1969 and is in need of a transformative update to meet current academic needs and support the campus vision for innovation, collaborative scholarship, and creative activity to enhance the community and support the mission of learning, discovery, and service. The existing building, for the most part, has maintained most of its original building systems that are now in need of replacement. Once the new Nursing and Instructional Building is completed on campus, the School of Nursing will move out of Moore to address space needs for new and expanding academic departments. Programs that will be provided with permanent homes as part of the renovation are: Computer Science (including the Data Science Initiative), School of Education Global Pathway Program, Master of Science in Informatics and Analytics, and an entire floor dedicated to research space for School of Health and Human Sciences. The fourth-floor research space will be designed to be flexible for reconfiguration as new projects begin and others end. For additional information on the programs above:
