Recreation Department Evaluation RFQ

The town of St Johnsbury, VT seeks the services of a qualified planning consultant to analyze the town's existing recreation programming and assets and conduct public outreach to identify community recreation needs. This information should then be used to recommend a structure for a sustainable recreation department for St Johnsbury. The analysis should consider options for funding sources as well as possibilities for a town vs regional approach. A facility assessment and recommendations should also be included, if appropriate. There are multiple existing recreational programs within town including, but not limited to the current recreation and RecFit programs run by St Johnsbury Academy, St Johnsbury Baseball and Softball, Raider Football, Prospector Wrestling, Kingdom Gymnastics, the Town Forest hiking and biking trails, and the Knob Property, to name a few. There are several projects underway in Town, including the completion of improvements related to the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, which should be considered when crafting a recreation master plan. Master Planning should include recreational programming for people of all ages and abilities. Recent improvements have seen the addition of a recreation director position and a town committee. A guiding recreation master plan is now needed to direct future efforts for a robust recreation department. This project is being funded in part by a Municipal Planning Grant from the state of
